Active vs Passive Subwoofer: Which Fits Your Amplifier?

Choose according to your equipment's output and the subwoofer's input. Cabinet size, finish and “2.1” in a name do not confirm compatibility.

Amplification is inside the cabinet. You need a supported audio input and the correct power supply.

A compatible external amplifier must drive it. Check impedance, rated power and low-pass filtering.

Step 02 · Check your equipment

Send the equipment model and clear photos of the connector labels to CCF. Do not choose from the plug shape alone.

  • Confirm the required cable, power supply and package contents before ordering.

Still deciding?

Does “active” mean it works with any TV or soundbar?

No. The source output and subwoofer input still need to match. Some systems use their own supported wireless subwoofers.

Does “2.1” mean two speakers are included?

No such assumption should be made. Confirm the packing list and any speaker-output capability separately.

Is active always better than passive?

No. The label describes where amplification happens. Choose for your complete system and intended use.
