Speaker Cable vs RCA Cable: Which Does Your Karaoke Setup Need?

RCA audio cable and speaker cable normally serve different parts of a home karaoke setup. A compatible music source can feed an amplifier’s analogue RCA input through an RCA audio cable. The amplifier then drives passive speakers through suitable speaker cable.

You may need both. Start with the labels on each device, because choosing a cable by its plug shape alone can lead to the wrong connection.

First, Separate the Two Connections

Read the Labels on the 660BT Rear Panel

For the CCF 660BT White, the photographed RCA sockets are inputs. They should not be treated as an output for another amplifier or an active subwoofer. The separate speaker terminals are where you assess a connection to suitable passive speakers.

The front microphone sockets serve another purpose again. Their shape does not make them interchangeable with music inputs or speaker outputs.

When Your Phone or TV Supplies the Music

The 660BT listing includes Bluetooth music playback. If you use a supported Bluetooth source, that replaces the wired music link into the amplifier; it does not remove the cable connection from the amplifier to passive speakers.

Measure Each Route Before Buying Speaker Cable

1. Write down both endpoints. Record the model and the exact output/input labels. Take clear photos with power switched off before inspecting or changing connections.
2. Measure the planned route. Follow the path around furniture rather than measuring straight across the room. Allow for access to the terminals without leaving loose cable across walkways.
3. Count the separate runs. For a stereo pair connected individually, record left and right speaker lengths separately. Count the music-source cable as a different item.
4. Confirm cable and termination requirements. Ask for a recommendation using the equipment specifications and run lengths. There is no single cable thickness we can prescribe from speaker size alone.
5. Check package contents. Do not assume cables are included because they appear in a setup photo. The CCF 6.5inch*2 passive-speaker listing specifically excludes speaker cable.

Common Cable Questions

Can RCA cable replace speaker cable?

Ordinary RCA audio interconnects are not a substitute for the speaker cable required between a power amplifier and passive speakers. Follow the manufacturer’s connection requirements; the plug alone does not identify the cable’s intended role.

Do I still need speaker cable when using Bluetooth?

The CCF passive pair shown here is not a Bluetooth speaker pair. Bluetooth music goes into a compatible amplifier, which still needs suitable cable connections to drive passive speakers.

Does an RCA socket always mean analogue audio?

No. Check the port label and manual rather than relying on connector shape. For this guide’s 660BT example, the original photo identifies the RCA groups as AUX audio inputs.

Is speaker cable included with the CCF 6.5-inch pair?

No. The linked 6.5inch*2 listing says speaker cable is not included. Confirm the correct length and termination for each speaker before ordering.
